## The paper

PSLE Science (0009), for examination from 2026 ([SEAB](https://isomer-user-content.by.gov.sg/334/24bb2fea-a0e0-4aaf-9a11-ae1ef1b8840e/0009_y26_sy.pdf)):

Booklet Item type Questions Marks each Marks
 A Multiple choice, four options 30 2 60
 B Structured 10 to 11 2, 3, 4 or 5 40

One paper, 1 hour 45 minutes , every question compulsory.

## What it assesses

SEAB lists two objectives: knowledge with understanding of scientific facts, concepts and principles, and application of knowledge and scientific inquiry : applying concepts, making predictions and hypotheses, interpreting and analysing information, evaluating methods, and communicating explanations, in words, diagrams, tables and graphs.

## The topics, P3 to P6

From MOE’s 2023 Primary Science syllabus, which organises science into five themes, Diversity, Cycles, Systems, Energy and Interactions ([MOE](https://www.moe.gov.sg/api/media/ba3562d3-5b31-4459-8693-45cde7b97273/Primary-Science-Syllabus-2023.pdf)):

 Level Topics
P3 Living and non-living things; materials; life cycles; magnets
P4 Plant parts and functions; the digestive system; matter; light; heat
P5 Reproduction; water; respiratory and circulatory systems in plants and humans; electrical systems
P6 Photosynthesis; energy conversion; frictional, gravitational and elastic spring forces; interactions within the environment

The PSLE draws on all four years, not just Primary 6.

## Where marks go in Booklet B

Structured answers that name the right concept but do not link it to the situation in the question lose marks. A useful habit: concept, link, result . For example: the metal spoon is a good conductor of heat (concept), so heat from the soup flows into it quickly (link), and the handle becomes hot (result).
